Private Beaches Harbour Island

Are there private beaches in Harbour island ?

Private Beach Harbour Island

No, there are no private beaches in Harbour Island. In The Bahamas, all beaches are considered public up to the high-tide line, meaning that even beaches in front of luxury hotels, private homes, or resorts are accessible to the public.

While some properties may have beach chairs, umbrellas, and services reserved for their guests, the beach itself—including the famous Pink Sand Beach—is open to everyone.

That being said, as a matter of courtesy toward businesses and homeowners, it is not well accepted for visitors to set up their own chairs or towels directly in areas where hotels or private residences have arranged seating for their guests. It is recommended that visitors position themselves at least 20 feet away from hotel or private property setups.

Fortunately, Harbour Island’s Pink Sand Beach is exceptionally long, wide, and sparsely populated, offering visitors plenty of space to enjoy the beach in peace. In many areas, you’ll feel as though you have an entire deserted island to yourself. “The Narrows district “ is especially very unpopulated.

That said, some stretches of beach may feel very secluded, especially in front of private estates or quieter parts of the island, giving the impression of a private beach even though public access remains protected by Bahamian law.
